The Minnesota Vikings have signed veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Beckham, 33, made the New York Giants’ opening 53-man roster in August but was released Sept. 29 after three games in which he had no catches. It ended a brief second stint with the team that drafted him 12th overall out of LSU in 2014.
The move reunites Beckham with Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell, who was the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator in 2021 when Beckham helped them win Super Bowl LVI. Beckham caught 21 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns during that playoff run before tearing his ACL in the title game against Cincinnati.
Minnesota is looking for help at receiver while star Justin Jefferson deals with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 3. Jordan Addison has drawn most of the targets in his absence, and no other Vikings wide receiver has more than two catches. The team also added receiver Jeshaun Jones to the practice squad.
Beckham has two second-team All-Pro selections and 575 career regular-season catches for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns.
