LANDOVER, Md. — The Washington Commanders and New York Giants played to a 27-27 overtime tie Sunday at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., after Washington botched its final play with a field goal in reach.

Jayden Daniels, back from a dislocated left elbow, was 17 of 25 passing for 199 yards and rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

Washington got the ball with 2 minutes left in overtime when Daron Payne stripped the ball from Cam Skattebo with New York in range for a game-ending field goal.

The Commanders moved to the Giants 26-yard line with 1 minute, 2 seconds remaining, then kept pushing for yards with no timeouts, running Rachaad White for a two-yard gain on a play that ended with 55 seconds left. With 12 seconds left and the ball at the Giants 24, Daniels held the ball and went down for no gain, and the clock ran out before Washington could spike it.

Head coach Dan Quinn took the blame after the game, saying the sequence was his responsibility and that the plan should have been a throw out of bounds or a clock play to set up the kick.

Washington is now 1-3-1.
