WASHINGTON, D.C. — Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of his final NHL season Sunday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., but the Seattle Kraken rallied past the Capitals 5-3.

Jared McCann broke a tie with 5:27 left, cutting to the middle and beating goalie Logan Thompson on a quick shot. Ryan Winterton iced it with 2:40 left.

Ovechkin, 41, entered the game with 929 goals, the most in NHL history. He got the puck alone in front after a forced turnover and sniped a quick shot past Joey Daccord for his 930th NHL goal, part of two Washington goals in a 5:06 span in the first period.
