DENVER — The Denver Broncos will face the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football without two starting defensive backs after listing cornerback Pat Surtain II and safety Talanoa Hufanga as out with ankle injuries.
Surtain is sitting a second consecutive week after also missing Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. The two-time All-Pro and 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year first left a Week 4 loss to San Francisco after a non-contact ankle problem and needed help leaving the field.
Hufanga is sidelined with his own ankle issue. Outside reporting has framed a possible two-to-three-week absence for the safety and left open a Week 7 return window for Surtain after earlier estimates of roughly two weeks away.
Cornerback Riley Moss is questionable with a rib problem. Nearly everyone else on the active roster is cleared, including defensive lineman Saivion Jones dealing with a shoulder. Jahdae Barron is expected to start opposite Surtains usual spot, Devon Key is the likely safety fill-in, and veteran Taylor Rapp could be elevated from the practice squad.
The game is at Empower Field at Mile High and streams nationally on Amazon Prime Video. The league Week 6 injury package also lists Seattle running back Zach Charbonnet among Seahawks players ruled out for the same night.
