DENVER — Wil Lutz drilled a 53-yard kick in overtime Thursday night, and the Denver Broncos escaped with a 17-14 result against Seattle at Mile High Stadium after JaQuan McMillian picked off Sam Darnold on the first sudden-death drive.

Seattle opened overtime and faced third-and-7 from its own 28. Darnold forced a sideline throw into double coverage; McMillian cut in front, returned the ball to the Seattle 43, and Sean Payton called three straight runs to center the hash before Lutz ended it.

Denver led 14-3 at the break after short scoring runs by J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey on long, clock-eating marches. Then the offense vanished: Bo Nix managed only 107 yards through the air, Denver totaled 36 yards across eight second-half series, and Seattle finished with a 353-168 edge in total yards.

The Seahawks answered in the fourth. George Holani punched in from a yard out and Rashid Shaheed secured a two-point catch that made it 14-11. Jason Myers tied it from 34 yards with three seconds left in regulation. Darnold finished with 278 passing yards on a career-high 51 attempts but tossed two interceptions, including the overtime mistake; Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 12 balls for 134 yards.

Denver played the night without cornerback Patrick Surtain II, sacked Darnold five times and forced three turnovers. The Broncos improved to 4-2, stayed perfect at home at three wins and zero losses, remain unbeaten in one-score games, and will host Arizona after a mini-bye.
