WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metro riders crossing the Potomac between Washington and Arlington will need a bus for part of the trip this weekend, as track crews take over a key stretch of the Orange, Silver and Blue lines on Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18.

The Orange Line goes dark from Clarendon to Foggy Bottom-GWU, and the Court House and Rosslyn stops will be shut. Silver Line service is cut from Clarendon all the way to Downtown Largo and New Carrollton, and Blue Line trains will skip the run from Reagan National Airport to Foggy Bottom-GWU, closing Arlington Cemetery station.

Free shuttles will fill the gaps whenever rail is running, with express and local buses between Foggy Bottom-GWU and Clarendon, and between Foggy Bottom-GWU and the Pentagon.

On the Red Line, trains will share one track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen, so riders should plan on roughly 10 minutes between trains. Green and Yellow line service is expected to be normal.

Crews will pull and reset timber ties and insulators at track switches and swap out fasteners. A longer holiday work period follows Dec. 16 to Dec. 30, when the Green Line runs on a single track from U Street up to Georgia Ave-Petworth.
