Commanders Without Croskey-Merritt Against Unbeaten 49ers

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Commanders face the 49ers in San Francisco on Monday night without their leading rusher. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, nursing a groin injury, is one of four players the team ruled out after its last practice on Saturday.

Also out are outside linebacker Javontae Jean-Baptiste with a pectoral injury, defensive end Charles Omenihu with groin and ankle trouble, and backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, still healing from the MCL sprain he suffered in the Week 4 loss. For Omenihu it will be a second missed game in a row.

Losing Croskey-Merritt stings. He has 239 rushing yards, tops on the roster, and he and Jayden Daniels own every one of the four rushing scores Washington has this season. A week ago against the Giants he ran 11 times for 82 yards and a touchdown before the injury slowed him.

Austin Ekeler and Rachaad White are expected to split the work, and Jeremy McNichols, who is on the PUP list and listed as questionable, could be activated to help.

There was better news at receiver. Terry McLaurin will play, and Stefon Diggs, questionable with a hamstring issue, made the cross-country trip with the team. Nine players carry a questionable tag, and every one of them took part in Saturday practice in some form.

Washington sits last in the NFC East at 1-3-1 after the tie with New York. San Francisco is one of three NFL teams without a loss and arrives off a 32-29 win at Seattle.
