WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 44-year-old Washington man has been indicted on a federal charge that he sold the fentanyl that killed Jack Hargreaves, a 20-year-old from Sterling, Virginia, in May 2024.

Anthony Winslow faces a single federal count of selling fentanyl that led to a death. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, led by Jeanine Pirro, announced the charge, and Winslow was taken into custody Wednesday close to his home.

Prosecutors say Winslow pulled up to a fire station in the city at about 6 a.m. on May 20, 2024, behind the wheel of the young man’s Infiniti, with Hargreaves already dead in the passenger seat. Winslow told investigators the two had spent the prior evening together in Virginia and that he took over driving when Hargreaves became impaired. He talked with a detective at the station and then left.

Medical examiner staff found counterfeit blue pills in a sock Hargreaves wore, and lab tests showed fentanyl. Messages on his phone pointed to months of drug sales by Winslow, prosecutors say. Agents from the DEA Washington Division worked the case.

The charge is an allegation, and Winslow is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
