WASHINGTON, D.C. — Georgetown controlled most of Saturday night’s women’s soccer match with visiting Seton Hall on the Hilltop in Washington, D.C., but a long stoppage for a power outage swung the game, and the Pirates won 1-0 on Oct. 24.

The lights at the field went out in the 62nd minute, halting play for more than an hour. Seton Hall came out of the delay with more energy and scored about 13 minutes later, when Gianna Angelillo set up Brianna Azevedo for a finish into the bottom left corner.

The Hoyas outshot the visitors 13-5 and put eight shots on target to three, but Pirates goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith made eight saves, five of them in the first half. Caroline Spengler and Lizzie Heller each tested her twice before the break, and Abby Droner and Jocelyn Lohmeyer had chances after it.

It was Seton Hall’s first win over Georgetown since 2011. Georgetown falls to 5-5-5 and 2-3-3 in the Big East, while the Pirates are now 6-2-5 and 2-2-3. The Hoyas are back home Wednesday, Oct. 28, when they host Creighton at 7 p.m.
