PORTLAND, Ore. — Memphis rookie Cameron Boozer needed just five games to put his name in the NBA record book. The 19-year-old forward had 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists Thursday night as the Grizzlies routed the Portland Trail Blazers 124-103 and stayed perfect at 5-0.

It was the first triple-double of his pro career, and he did it in only 28 minutes of floor time.

At 19 years and 103 days, Boozer is now the second-youngest player in league history with a triple-double. Only Josh Giddey, who was 84 days past his 19th birthday when he did it for Oklahoma City in January 2022, was younger, and that came in a loss. That makes Boozer the youngest ever to reach the mark in a victory.

He also took the record for the youngest frontcourt player with one, a mark San Antonio center Victor Wembanyama had held since he was 20 years and 6 days old in January 2024. His age also beats the old forward mark set by LeBron James, who was 20 years and 20 days old, by 282 days.

Boozer, the third overall pick in the 2026 draft and the youngest player in the league, joins a short list of players who logged a triple-double within their first five NBA games: Oscar Robertson in 1960, Art Williams in 1967 and Ben Simmons in 2017.

Memphis has now opened a season 5-0 twice, matching the 2014-15 club. Guard Ty Jerome, who came in averaging 29.8 points, had a quieter night, but the rookie picked up the slack. The result also handed Portland its first loss, leaving Houston as the only other unbeaten team in the league.

The Grizzlies are back home Saturday night against winless Sacramento.
