WASHINGTON, D.C. — Washington Commanders long snapper Tyler Ott is the club’s pick for the 2026 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA, a reveal that came during a Joint Base Andrews visit last Tuesday.

The team arranged the moment on the flight line with Chief Master Sgt. Lauren Williams while Ott was meeting service members and touring the base. Teammates and staff had kept the nomination quiet until then.

Military service runs through Ott’s family — grandfather, father and stepfather — and he has leaned harder into military charities after a relative who served in the National Guard died a few years ago. His outreach includes Merging Vets and Players and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

Leaguewide, each NFL club is naming a 2026 nominee for the same honor. Buffalo announced offensive tackle Spencer Brown as its pick the same week, one of 32 team nominees across the league.

Ott now represents Washington in the year-end Salute to Service Award that recognizes players who support service members and military families beyond gameday ceremonies.
