WASHINGTON, D.C. — Louisville Slugger put three Nationals names on its finalist sheet Thursday: shortstop CJ Abrams, outfielder James Wood and the Washington club for the team Silver Slugger.

Abrams finished ahead of every National League shortstop with 33 homers, 67 extra-base knocks and 106 RBI. A 30-homer, 30-steal, 100-RBI season at shortstop had been done only by Bobby Witt Jr. in 2024 and Alex Rodriguez in 1998.

Wood led National League outfielders in free passes (102) and on-base rate (.388) even after missing 27 games. He still finished with 30 home runs, 106 runs scored and a .891 OPS, and local writers named him Washington’s Player of the Year.

A second look at the box scores shows Abrams at .261 with 34 steals and an .834 OPS, while Wood added 21 steals and 77 RBI. Washington also piled up a majors-best 522 extra-base hits, sat third with 821 runs and tied for third in OPS.

Winners will be named Tuesday, Nov. 17. Abrams would become the second Nationals shortstop to take the award; Wood the fourth Nationals outfielder; the team prize would be a franchise first.
