Jon Rahm, arguably the biggest star to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, will not be part of the league’s planned relaunch, his lawyer told a bankruptcy court hearing Wednesday.

Attorney John Beck said the two-time major winner independently reviewed the proposed terms of what is being called LIV 2.0 and found them unacceptable. Rahm’s representatives and LIV are in advanced discussions for a consensual separation agreement, which could be finalized at a court hearing Nov. 5.

LIV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in officials noted the United States in September after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund withdrew its funding. The league has entered a restructuring agreement with BC Partners Credit that could bring up to $300 million in financing as it tries to continue into the 2027 season. Players have until Oct. 25 to discuss terms with the league.

Rahm, 31, joined LIV in December 2023 in a deal reported to be worth $300 million and won his third straight LIV season title in August. Creditor documents show he holds the largest unsecured claim against the league, at $7.5 million. In May he reached a deal with the DP World Tour to keep his membership there and remain eligible for next year’s Ryder Cup.

Other players are expected to follow him out, with the DP World Tour likely to be the first stop for many in 2027. The future of Bryson DeChambeau, LIV’s remaining marquee name, is unclear.
