WASHINGTON, D.C. — A stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the Capitol in Washington will be shut to cars from Friday evening until early Sunday for a Saturday DJ pop-up event, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Starting at 7 p.m. Friday and lasting until 4 a.m. Sunday, police will close Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue between 3rd and 7th streets, along with pieces of 4th Street and 6th Street. Those blocks will be posted as emergency no-parking zones, and cars left there will be ticketed and towed.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., officers may also close Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th streets and part of 7th Street at times for crowd safety.
Metrobus riders should plan ahead. The D10 line will detour in both directions from 5 p.m. Friday until 2:30 a.m. Sunday, using Independence Avenue SW around the closed blocks.
A separate charity walk on Saturday morning will close N Street NW between Vermont Avenue and 14th Street from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
