WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Washington Spirit have locked up defensive midfielder Deborah Abiodun for two more seasons, the NWSL club announced, keeping the Nigerian international in Washington, D.C., through 2028.
The new deal also includes a mutual option for one more year. Abiodun, 22, also suits up for the Super Falcons, the top women’s side for her home country.
She joined the Spirit out of the University of Pittsburgh in January 2025 and was sent on loan to Dallas Trinity FC of the USL Super League a month later. The club called her back from that loan on Aug. 26, 2026.
Under head coach Adrián González she has played in 21 matches, scoring once and adding one assist. Abiodun is currently working her way back from an injury she picked up on club duty.
