WASHINGTON, D.C. — Front porches, stoops and parks across Adams Morgan in Northwest Washington, D.C., turn into stages Saturday for the neighborhood’s free Fall PorchFest, which runs from noon until 5 p.m.
Organizers with the Adams Morgan Partnership expect around 100 acts on more than 20 stages spread over the residential and commercial blocks, covering everything from bluegrass to classic rock. Admission is free for all ages, and a wristband from one of three info booths unlocks deals at dozens of local shops and restaurants.
Side attractions include artists and makers selling work on the 1800 block of Belmont Road and vintage clothing on the 2100 and 2200 blocks of 18th Street. One of the busier venues, the Kalorama Park Stage, has sets lined up through the afternoon.
Drivers should plan around the crowds. The Metropolitan Police Department says 18th Street between Columbia Road and U Street, Euclid Street between the Columbia and Ontario roads, and Lanier Place between Ontario and Quarry roads will be shut to traffic from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with emergency no-parking signs posted. Columbia Road between Harvard Street and 19th Street may close at times. Cars left in the posted zones will be ticketed and towed.
Organizers are urging people to walk or bike in. For those who must drive, a garage behind 2421 18th Street NW is reached from Kalorama Road.
