Washington, D.C. – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Flagstar Football are launching the second year of their Youth Leadership and Business Internship Program. This initiative is part of MSE’s broader “District of Play” youth sports initiative and will kick off on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The program is designed to last three months and will provide up to 140 paid internships for young leaders aged 15 to 24.
The internships aim to provide training and hands-on experience in the sports business sector, expanding access and impact while equipping participants with valuable professional skills. Participants will work alongside MSE and Flagstar staff on real-world projects within the D.C. community, gaining insights into various aspects of the sports industry.
The curriculum for this year’s program has been enhanced from its inaugural run, focusing on real-life projects and interactive group work. Interns will not only engage with practical tasks but will also have the opportunity to network and learn from high-level guest speakers. Moreover, after each in-person session, participants will be able to attend a Washington Capitals or Wizards game, further enriching their experience.
Monumental Sports Network has committed to supporting this initiative with $350,000 annually. This continuation reflects the organization’s commitment to empowering youth with tools and confidence necessary for future success. The internship program is inclusive, open to both male and female participants, and aims to provide real-world experience in essential fields such as startup strategy, communication, marketing, finance, and operations.
The inaugural year of the program (2024-25) saw an impressive turnout, with 145 interns hailing from 52 high schools and seven universities. Additionally, the program has awarded nearly 2,000 scholarships during this same season, demonstrating its impact on the youth of the District.
Interested candidates who want to apply for the internship program can do so until Thursday, October 23, 2025. All sessions are scheduled to take place from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Capital One Arena.
