Washington, D.C. – A notable alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin is making waves at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, leading vital initiatives for veterans as he pursues his MBA. This student, who hails from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, has a strong family background in military service, with his father, brother, and eight other relatives having served in the U.S. military. His commitment to both his studies and his fellow veterans is evident through multiple leadership roles he has taken on during his time at Georgetown.
After earning a degree in Systems Design and Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served as an Active-Duty Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army. His military experience not only provided him with leadership skills but also a profound understanding of the challenges veterans face during their transition into civilian life. This background informed his decision to lead the McDonough Military Association (MMA), an organization dedicated to supporting military-affiliated students at Georgetown.
During his time in the MBA program, he held other leadership roles, including serving as a Director in the Georgetown Consulting Club and a Peer Advisor at the McDonough Career Center. He also contributed his skills as a member of the MBA Golf Club. He notably organized key events such as the official Army-Navy pre-game event at Georgetown, which drew attention to veteran issues.
His efforts culminated in the successful planning and execution of the Army-Navy Warrior Summit, where panels were hosted on veteran transitions. Among the featured speakers was Patrick Murphy, a former Undersecretary of the Army, who shared insights on the challenges faced by veterans. He is also recognized for his work with the McDonough Career Center, where he helped peers secure internships, exemplifying his commitment to mentoring fellow students.
In 2024, he completed a Summer Consultant position at L.E.K. Consulting in Boston and will continue with the firm post-graduation. Georgetown was chosen for its unique environment, being at the crossroads of business and policy in Washington, D.C., and serving a diverse student body from nearly 40 countries. He highlighted his favorite courses, including Strategies Beyond the Market by Professor Jeffrey Macher, emphasizing the importance of non-market strategies in business.
Reflecting on his experience, he expressed a desire to have taken more diverse courses outside the MBA program, including subjects from the School of Foreign Service and Law School. He shared that a common misconception is that Georgetown students are solely interested in government roles; many pursue traditional business paths, such as finance and consulting.
His appreciation for Washington, D.C., extends beyond academia, as he enjoys the city’s rich history and culture, which enhances his educational experience. Moreover, he views the film Air as a realistic depiction of business, emphasizing relationships and the necessity of taking risks in a competitive environment.
As he prepares for his future in consulting, he aims to mentor veterans transitioning into the business world, striving for consistent growth through his career. His peers recognize him for his exceptional engagement in class discussions and contributions to events, with a particular admiration for his classmate Nikki Jimenez, noted for her compassion and leadership.
This alumnus’s comprehensive achievements and dedication to veteran initiatives display a strong commitment to making a positive impact beyond his academic endeavors, setting an inspiring example for his peers and future leaders.
