Lakewood, Ohio — An incident involving Ohio Congressman Max Miller and local doctor Feras Hamdan has prompted law enforcement action and political condemnation following a reported road rage confrontation that occurred on June 19, 2025. The event has drawn national attention due to allegations of threats, racial intimidation, and the subsequent legal proceedings.
According to reports, Congressman Miller was driving to work in Lakewood when he encountered Dr. Hamdan on the roadway. Miller contacted authorities around 9:30 a.m. to allege that Hamdan had played a role in aggressive driving actions, including laying on his horn and intentionally forcing Miller off the road. Miller further claimed that the confrontation escalated as Hamdan waved a Palestinian flag from his vehicle and hurled anti-Semitic threats towards Miller, while recording the encounter on his cellphone.
Miller reported that during the altercation, Hamdan made explicit threats to his life and the safety of his family. Miller described feeling “assaulted” and expressed concern that his safety was compromised during the incident. The alleged threats included statements indicating intent to kill him and his family, accompanied by homophobic slurs used by Hamdan.
Following the incident, Dr. Feras Hamdan was charged with aggravated menacing and ethnic intimidation. During his arraignment on June 20, Hamdan pled not guilty. He was assigned a $500,000 bond as part of the legal process. The Rocky River Law Department has since released unedited and comprehensive video footage of the incident, which officials say provides clarity on the events.
On July 8, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Hamdan was formally indicted on multiple charges, including threatening violence against Miller and his family. The case has been directed to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Hamdan, who voluntarily surrendered to authorities after an arrest warrant was issued, has no prior criminal record and is described as a respected member of the community. His attorney, Issa Elkhatib, contended that the released video evidence did not substantiate Miller’s accusations and emphasized that political disagreements should not be criminalized.
Law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation include the U.S. Capitol Police, the FBI, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. All agencies collaborated to assess threats and gather evidence related to the incident.
In light of the event, House Speaker Mike Johnson and other congressional leaders condemned the confrontation, citing concerns over increasing political violence. The Rocky River Law Department reiterated its commitment to investigating threats against residents and public officials, emphasizing the seriousness of such conduct and the importance of safety and lawfulness.
This incident marks a notable point in ongoing national discussions regarding political violence and harassment. While individual disputes often remain localized, heightened tensions and confrontations such as this heighten concerns over safety and civility in public discourse. Cleveland and surrounding communities continue to monitor matters involving threats or aggressive behavior directed at public officials or community members.
The legal process continues as authorities review evidence and determine appropriate next steps, with the case set to proceed through the judicial system. Both the law enforcement actions and political responses highlight the ongoing efforts to address violence and intimidation in an increasingly polarized climate.
