Portland, OR — The Portland Timbers are set to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their 2015 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup victory with a series of special events and promotions scheduled for July 16, 2025. The highlight of the celebrations will be the home match against Real Salt Lake, held at Providence Park at 7:30 PM Pacific Time.
The match will feature a special halftime recognition ceremony dedicated to the 2015 MLS Cup-winning team. Several alumni from that championship squad are expected to attend, adding to the significance of the occasion. Fans attending the match will be part of the commemoration and will have the chance to engage with the history of the franchise.
As part of the celebration, the first 20,000 fans entering Providence Park will receive a commemorative ticket, courtesy of Pacific Office Automation. Additionally, a limited edition 10th Anniversary 2015 MLS Cup scarf will be available for purchase, serving as a collector’s item to mark the milestone.
The anniversary celebration forms part of the Timbers’ larger 50th season-long celebration, which is presented by Toyota. The team continues to build momentum in the current MLS season, with tickets for remaining home matches available at a price of $169. Fans can also opt to book tickets via text message, making access more convenient.
The Timbers are preparing for their upcoming Matchday 24, where they will face St. Louis CITY SC in an away game on Sunday Night Soccer. This matchup comes at a pivotal point in the Western Conference standings, where Portland currently holds the fourth position with a record of 9 wins, 5 losses, and 6 draws.
The Timbers previously defeated St. Louis CITY with a 2-1 scoreline, demonstrating their consistency against the current opponent. However, St. Louis CITY has been experiencing a challenging season, with a record of one win, one draw, and four losses in their last five matches, placing them at risk of finishing at the bottom of the conference, commonly referred to as the Wooden Spoon.
In response to recent challenges, St. Louis CITY’s interim manager, David Critchley, has made tactical adjustments, shifting the team’s formation to boost offensive output following the departure of the previous coach. Meanwhile, the Timbers’ head coach, Phil Neville, is focusing on evolving the team’s strategy and adjusting the player roster to improve overall performance and stability.
A notable development for the Timbers is the absence of key player Jonathan Rodríguez, who will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to successful cartilage restoration surgery on his right knee. Rodríguez, who had only contributed one goal and one assist in six appearances this season, has been a valuable but limited contributor.
In his absence, the team has adopted a collective approach to attacking play. Leading the attack is David Da Costa, who has tallied eight assists and scored three goals. Winger Antony has also been a crucial player, netting six goals and providing seven assists, becoming one of the primary offensive options for the Timbers during this period.
The MLS Secondary Transfer Window is open from July 24 to August 21, providing teams with the opportunity to sign new players and strengthen their squads for the remainder of the season. This window offers a strategic opportunity for teams like the Timbers to address roster gaps and enhance their competitive edge.
The Portland Timbers are celebrating a significant milestone with a special event at Providence Park, commemorating their 2015 MLS Cup victory. The season continues to unfold with upcoming matches and strategic developments, including adjustments following injuries and the ongoing transfer window. Fans and supporters can look forward to an engaging and historic evening, celebrating a key chapter in the club’s history while also focused on future success.
