WASHINGTON, D.C. — Salesforce is taking a full floor in a downtown Washington office building for a new hub where it will host government officials, customers and community groups for meetings, events and technology demonstrations.
The software company signed a long-term lease for space at 1401 New York Ave. NW, a building owned by Carr Properties. Work on the space is set to start late this year, and the center is expected to open in early 2028.
A company spokesperson said Salesforce will keep its current office, located at 1801 K St. NW. It also keeps an office in McLean, Va., and employs more than 2,000 people across the District and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs.
For Carr, the deal means its Class A tower, with 211,446 square feet of space, is now 95% leased. The landlord said it plans to redesign the rooftop and penthouse and improve the lobby, fitness center and conference rooms as part of a broader upgrade of the property.
CBRE brokers represented both sides of the deal.
