LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Dodge is going back to NASCAR’s top division. Stellantis said Monday the brand will compete in the Cup Series again beginning with the Daytona 500 in February 2027, ending an absence that dates to the end of the 2012 season.
Tim Kuniskis, who runs the Stellantis American brands, made the announcement in Las Vegas on the eve of the SEMA trade show. He stressed that the company will do its development work at the track rather than wait several years to come back.
Kaulig Racing will be the lead team for the program, and Dodge SRT Racing will oversee the brand’s North American racing efforts. Kaulig will reveal who drives the cars when the series holds its title races at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The company has not said how many cars Kaulig will run or whether other teams will join.
Fans will get a first look at the new Cup car on Dec. 4 at the Five Flags Speedway short track in Pensacola during an event Dodge is calling the Sno-Brawl, held the day before the 59th Snowball Derby. That night will also feature celebrity drivers racing matching Dodge Charger late-model stock cars.
Dodge last raced in Cup in 2012, when Brad Keselowski won the championship in a Penske Racing Charger. Its history in the series goes back to a first victory in 1953. The 69th Daytona 500 is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2027, at Daytona International Speedway.
